Lazarus Botsi born at the farm called Geluk in Brits, in the North-West Province. Lazarus grew up listening to the variety of musicians and any genres that have played an influential role in shaping his signature sound.

Lazarus lived in Mohlaletse Ga-Sekhukhune where he fellowshipped at Assemblies of God Church, he served in the church choir. To realize he has a talent, he formed the Group called Laz and Three sisters (which consisted of him, Tebatso, Reckie and Mahlako). The group was popular in the area because they used to sing at churches gatherings and at School Christian Movements_SCM.

All these schools he attended, Lazarus used to sing at the assembly and school choirs. From then Lazarus made sure that whenever he completes his high school studies, he is going to pursue his dream of becoming a Gospel singer. Indeed, upon his completion of matric, Lazarus went to further his studies at Rustenburg where he resided in Phokeng.

His talent started to flourish from then as he got to be more popular in the surrounding areas, and he met Pst Jabu Nkabinde whom was producing Rebecca Malope’s music then, Pst Nkabinde gave him a chance and to date they still working together as his first Album Modimo O Lerato was Produced by him.

Now, as a well-respected Musician, his aim to offer something different and unique to his fans by creating and sharing original music.

For some, music is just a way to let out a little bit of energy, but for Lazarus Botsi it’s so much more than that– it’s a way of Praising and Worshiping God.

Since Lazarus entered the music industry world professionally in the early 2000's, Lazarus Botsi has been capturing the hearts of fans everywhere with his unique voice & way of rendering the new music and old hymns.

Lazarus performs songs in Setswana, isiZulu, Sesotho, Sepedi, English and isiXhosa, with his style of music, he resonates well with South Africans of all cultures and language, being the young right through to the old.

Not only have this man shared stages with the likes of Dr Tumi, Lucas Maloma, Pst Jabu Nkabinde, Putuma Tiso, Siphokazi, Kholeka Dubula, Kgotso Makgalema, Jonas Masotla & Siyakha Khitha from Joyous Celebration. He has done collaboration with Pst Jabu Nkabinde on his previous album – Modimo O Lerato (God Is Love)

In 2016 his first album – Modimo O Lerato was nominated at the 3rd INGOMAS – Independent Gospel Music Awards in the category of ALBUM OF THE YEAR. This just goes to show that Lazarus is fast becoming a well recognized brand in the Gospel Music Industry , It is clearly evident as more and more artists are reaching out to work with him.

Under his belt he has Studio Album Modimo O Lerato, and few singles Ukunqoba, Ukholo Lwam' & Maotong A Jeso. He has recently recorded his second live album Phakama Jesu at Roodepoort Theatre.

Lazarus Botsi’s latest single, “Phakama Jesu,” has been nominated for the Best Gospel Single at the 2024 11th INGOMAS. Additionally, he has also been nominated for the Best Male Artist.
